Mark Catesby's well-loved
illustrations of two of Bryn Mawr College's favorite animals. The
owl, of course, represents the scholarly sister as its mascot bearing
the qualities of wisdom, patience, and mental endurance. The ground
squirrels can be found in great abundance all over campus and represent
natural intelligence and the protection of reserves. All of these
qualities are often attributed to Bryn Mawr students.
